Multimedia Room - Denerg - door 3 - Floor 2

Instructor: Sandrine Ricote
Colorado School of Mines, Mechanical Engineering Department, Golden, CO, USA
22 September 2026 | 14:00 - 18:00
30 September 2026 | 10:00 - 12:30
Location: Multimedia Room, DENERG (Floor 2, Door 3)
This interactive course provides a practical, hands-on approach to learning how to efficiently read and interpret scientific literature. Participants will explore strategies for rapidly identifying a paper's key objectives, methodologies, results, and conclusions, while distinguishing essential information from background content.
The course will place particular emphasis on the extraction and organization of data relevant to Solid Oxide Cells (SOCs) and Protonic Ceramic Cells (PCCs) stack design. Through guided exercises and discussion, attendees will develop skills that can be directly applied to their own research activities.
About the Instructor
Sandrine Ricote is a Research Associate Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the Colorado School of Mines (USA). After obtaining an engineering diploma in Materials Science, she completed her PhD in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Burgundy (France), focusing on high-temperature proton conductors. She subsequently worked at the Technical University of Denmark as both a postdoctoral researcher and scientist before joining Colorado School of Mines in 2012.
Her research focuses on high-temperature ion-conducting ceramics, with a particular emphasis on proton-conducting materials, covering topics from materials processing to advanced characterization.
Target Audience
PhD candidates, early-career researchers, and anyone interested in developing effective literature analysis and data extraction skills for energy-related ceramic technologies.
