Prof. Giovanni Manassero Junior is an Associate Professor at Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo (EPUSP) - Brazil - and head of the Laboratory for Research in Protection and Automation of Electrical Systems (L•PROT).

His research focuses on protection of electrical systems in the time domain, particularly for transmission lines and distribution networks in the context of smart grids. He investigates the impact of electronic converters on the performance of protection and automation systems, and develops solutions for fault location, including high-impedance faults.

In the current scenario of modernization and digitalization, He is also engaged in asset management and in the study of the impact of new technologies on power system operation.
