SUMMER SCHOOL on Safety of Underground Transport Infrastructure with Prof. Davide Papurello
Modern powertrain solutions use a variety of different energy sources - renewable fuels, batteries or hydrogen. This poses new challenges for the infrastructure. In addition to the refueling and charging infrastructure, safety in tunnels is also of great importance.
Knowledge of relevant aspects in this context is indispensable for engineers of the future. Learn more about this in the summer school.
You will gain insights into:
• Operation and construction of underground infrastructure
• Safety aspects of tunnels and various types of vehicles
• Project development in an international and multidisciplinary group work
To confront theory with practice, a visit to the tunnel safety management center has been planned to sum up the school.
Program
The Summer School will take place between 15th and 26th of September 2025.
During the first week, you will get insights into the different topics via online lectures held by the teachers from WUST, TU Graz, PoliTo, and TU Darmstadt.
The second week (22nd to 26th of Sept. 2025) will bring the opportunity to meet all participants and staff and collaborate on a group project in an international interdisciplinary team.
On Sept. the 26th, a visit to the tunnel safety management center near Bolków town will take place.
