Research Group LAME
LAME - LAboratory for Models and scenarios for Energy planning and for energy systems analysis
The LAME Laboratory, founded by prof. Evasio Lavagno, is the DENERG reference group for research and didactic activities in the field of models and scenarios for energy planning and of energy systems analysis. The adopted approach is interdisciplinary, i.e. technological, economical, environmental and devoted to the integrated analysis of energy infrastructures and systems.

Activity description |
Modelling for Energy Planning: definition and implementation of models and tools to support policies for energy and environmental planning, with specific focuses on the local scale, from urban to regional, , also using thermal models for the evaluation of energy consumption in buildings, using also GIS tools support. Development of energy models to support national and supranational policies for moving toward post-carbon configurations and aiming to safeguard the resilience and the sustainability of energy systems and infrastructures. Integration with GIS tools (Supervisors: Carpignano, Corgnati, Badami, Mutani). Cogeneration and Energy Savings in Industry: technical-economical optimisation of cogeneration and trigeneration industrial plants. Industrial energy savings, with a focus on thermal recovery systems adopted in ORC plants, heat pumps and absorption chillers (Supervisors: Badami, Poggio). Safety and Risk Analysis: models for reliability, availability, maintainability and safety analyses (RAMS), risk analysis and maintenance engineering for complex technological systems. Studies on localisation of industrial plants and of the related infrastructures (Supervisor: Carpignano). Sustainable Energy Analysis: studies on the energy use of forestry biomass. Analysis and modelling of district heating systems. Tools for local analyses and energy statistics (Supervisor: Poggio). Analysis and Modelling of Electrical Systems and Infrastructures (Supervisor: Bompard). |
