    Abstract

    The thermodynamic cycle used in a gas turbine (GT) has undergone little change since its early development. Over the last decades effort has been put into increasing efficiency through reducing losses and raising overall pressure ratio and peak temperature. To break out of current limits a different cycle is required. One of the most promising is the case where a pressure rise across the combustion process is allowed. Cycle models show that such a change would reduce the fuel consumption of a large turbofan engine by ~15% and of a small engine by ~25%. An efficiency increase of up to 20% is also expected for land based GT. The pan-European team assembled offers the possibility of studying the most promising Pressure Gain Combustion, PGC solutions on an innovative integrated level. Current PGC solutions are of two types, the subsonic type, which is limited by low heat release rate but is practical and the detonative type, with very high heat release rate but currently impractical.     La proposta è articolata in 3 obiettivi1 - Selection of an established numerical ageing model for batteries of hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).2 - Implementation of a HEV powertrain model and control strategy accounting for aging processes and estimated lifetime of the battery.3 - Development of a multi-objective numerical component sizing tool for HEV powertrains considering both fuel economy and battery lifetime.

    Abstract

    Lo scopo del Progetto è la realizzazione di un modello organizzativo-logistico innovativo per la gestione della logistica del farmaco e dei dispositivi medici, che sia in grado di coprirne l’intera catena gestionale in modo integrato (prescrizione e gestione della domanda, approvvigionamento, logistica, preparazione, allestimento e somministrazione). Questo sarà possibile attraverso lo sviluppo di soluzioni ICT capaci di attivare nuovi modelli gestionali e di incrementare il livello di interazione tra le Aziende Ospedaliere (AO). La proposta, in particolare, intende sperimentare alcune soluzioni prototipali per la gestione della logistica farmaceutica all’interno di una rete di AO del territorio di Milano e Torino. Attraverso il ridisegno dei processi di logistica farmaceutica ospedaliera sarà possibile implementare un modello ottimizzato basato sulla gestione centralizzata dei farmaci multi-azienda su scala urbana/zonale.

    Abstract

    The overall goal of the research is to promote the parallel development of future powertrain systems and advance biofuel products (HVO, BTL, LC Ethanol, Biomethane, DME, Hydrogen, blends of Biomethane and H2) so as to achieve optimal performance in terms of pollutant emissions and GHG levels on a WTW basis. An innovative engine platform is required, capable of enabling a wide flexibility in adapting the combustion process to the specific characteristics of the fuel blend, thus maintaining the optimum conditions in terms of efficiency and pollutant reduction. In this context, a number of key topics has to be addressed: the identification of the biofuels for highly efficient SI engines featuring virtually zero engine-out emissions; the impact of biofuel blending on combustion; the combustion characteristics of alternative fuels, adaptability of engine performance to changes in fuel quality; on-board fuel quality sensing systems; powertrain calibrations for multiple fuel operating schemes.
