Biography

Professor Anna Pellegrino graduated in Architecture in 1994 and received a PhD in Energetics in 1998. She is Associate Professor of Building Physics at the Polytechnic of Turin since 2008. Since the beginning of her career, she has been carrying out her research activity at the Department of Energy of the Politecnico di Torino. The main research field is the one of Lighting, from technologies to applications, from design to assessment, taking into account the relationship between light and energy, light and human factors, light and cultural heritage, and considering both daylighting and electric lighting, in buildings and outdoor environments. The research activity has been carried out in several national or international projects and research/consultancy contracts, acting as both scientific referent and researcher. Results of base oriented research and applied research have been published in more than 130 papers, published on national and international conference proceedings and on national and international journals and book chapters. Since 2000, she has been teaching, mainly at the School of Architecture of the Politecnico di Torino, a variety of Undergraduate and Master level courses in the fields of Building Physics and Lighting. She also contributed to several PdD courses in the fields of Energetics and Cultural Heritage. She has supervised about 85 Bachelor and Master thesis (mainly discussed at the School of Architecture) and tutored 5 PhD students. Currently, she is member of the PhD programme in Architectural and Landscape Heritage. From 2000 to 2015 and again since 2020, she has been appointed National representative in the CIE (International Commission on Illumination) Division 3: Interior Environment and Lighting Design, where she also acted as Associate Director for Daylighting from 2011 to 2015. Since 2018, she is part of the Executive and Directive Board of the Italian Association for Illumination (AIDI).
