Andrea Mazza (Member, IEEE) received the M.Sc. (Honors) and the Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Politecnico di Torino (POLITO), Turin, Italy, in 2011 and 2015, respectively.
He is currently an Assistant Professor (tenure track) at Politecnico di Torino and his research activities include distribution system optimization, distribution system reliability and resilience, decision-making methods applied to the electricity system, integration of distributed energy resources and power-to-X plants in the electricity grid, and optimal integration of multivector distribution systems (heat, gas, and electricity).
Scientific branch
ING-IND/33 - SISTEMI ELETTRICI PER L'ENERGIA (Area 0009 - Ingegneria industriale e dell'informazione)
Real-time simulations.
This research aims to investigate theoretical aspects of the real-time simulation and use it to modelling the electrical system.
The experiments may involve more remotely connected laboratories (i.e., multi-site remore real time simulation) or local hardware and software.
Integration of Power-to-gas (PtG) systems within the electrical system.
This research line aims to investigate the impact of PtG system on the planning and operation of th electrical system.
Furthermore, it opens the possibility to carry out analysis of multi-energy systems.
Resilience of the distribution system.
The research quesiton is related to the impact of extreme weather events on the electrical system.
In particular, I have investigated the effect of heat wae phenomena on distribution system underground cables.
